456 pouches each filled with approximately 2.5 ounces of liquid represent the average number of periods a woman has in her lifetime. These pouches create an image of a central fact of my experience as a woman. The number 456 is potentially the average number of menstrual periods a woman can experience in her lifetime (38 year x 12 months/year). The claret-colored translucent pouches hang from the ceiling like a magnificent chandelier. The viewer (men, women and children) are stunned by the size of the installation and the beauty of how the light shimmers through the pouches as they spin with the subtle air current in the gallery.
